Well, the calf problem from yesterday turned out to be a muscle tear, and I have had to cancel my participation on the race in Berne. Right now, I don't want to talk about it, I am that gutted.
Chin up Craig, plenty of time before the big one... and remember take it easy and think about quality of training, not rushing out and doing loads. I've learnt so much from my marathon last month. This race, whilst about fitness and mental strength so pretty much about body management and keeping yourself in good nick - My goal is, whilst trying to get myself in the best possible shape, to get to the start line in the best possible condition. I'm sure you know this, but I want to be drinking some fine champagne with my buddy on the secret 7th leg of the race i.e. the hotel bar!
Thanks, Dan. Your response makes sense, and I guess, like with gym workouts, it's form that is important - quality not quantity. I look forward to that "secret 7th leg"!!!!!!!
I've been running since May 2007 - I am new to it. Tried my hand at weight-lifting but gave up as it was frustrating - I'm a hardgainer, and wasn't getting far, despite hard work!!!! Found my passion in running, and am now doing marathons, with my ultimate aim being the Marathon des Sables in 2010.
What is it about a racing event which stipulates the obligatory carrying of flares, anti-venom, and funeral insurance, yet drives one almost to distraction? I have never been so motivationally driven by any sport as I am being right now with the MdS. It's impossible to explain in words. But it's TRUE!!! Roll on 2010.
